This stake in Amazon makes them richer than the 30th-richest person in the world.
It was not public information that they owned a part of Amazon until 1999.
From 2001 through 2016, Mr. and Mrs. Bezos have donated 595,027 shares to the Bezos Family Foundation, which focuses on education for young people.
It is believed that they own 16.6 million shares, which is 3.4 percent of Amazon.
