Universities Embrace Ai & Machine Learning

Colleges and universities have played an important role in advancing machine learning technology!

The University of Maryland, using a $3 million endowment gift in December of 2017, established a partnership with Capital One to advance machine learning and create an innovation lab where students will apply classroom lessons to real-world problems. The Maryland Department of Commerce also committed $2.1 million to endow two new professorships in this field. Likewise, the University of Washington has been hiring professors in the machine learning and data science. In 2012, the university recruited four machine learning experts, and in 2017, used a $50 million endowment to establish the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science and Data Engineering. With these efforts, our nation’s colleges and universities are doing their part to prepare for the coming Ai revolution.
