Before 2000, both artificial intelligence and virtual reality were fields that few knew about, they have now become the pillars of the fourth industrial revolution.

The combination of AI and VR has potential to dramatically improve technologies and industrial practices in medicine, therapy robotics, and data collection.

By using MRIs, CT Scans, and other imaging techniques, VR and AI can be used to create preoperative models of virtual patients. Surgeons can then use these models to walk through or rehearse the surgery beforehand so they are more familiar with the nuances of an individual patient’s body.

This technology can also be utilized by medical students, who can practice surgical strategies and procedures before operating on real patients.

VR and AI are also providing a tool for mental health treatment for phobias and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Patients can navigate through virtual environments, complete simple tasks, and can be exposed to specific stimuli to trigger a reaction.

The simulations also track the user’s behavior through eye-tracking and patient positioning. Trained therapists and clinicians can use this data to create better diagnoses and provide better treatment for their patients.

As for Robotics, Virtual Reality is used in reinforcement learning applications. By building simulations of robots and training them on specific tasks using AI algorithms.

This approach allows engineers and researchers to perform experiments and change their setups quickly without additional costs while maintaining effective and efficient training for their robots.

VR also provides a platform to understand and design the human-machine interaction and the machine-machine interaction through understanding the collective behaviors and composite societies as in multi-agent systems.

Training VR in training with incorporated voice commands is a very significant use-case that will enhance the learning and apprenticeship experience. Through the VR simulation, users can interact with their surroundings and understand procedures and tasks effectively.

Integrating AI can ensure the engagement of trainees by evolving the assigned learning tasks and situations based on their performances while keeping track of their progress and providing real-time recommendations and evaluation.

In conclusion, Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence serve among the most prominent technologies in the 4th industrial revolution, and their applications are expected to affect most of the industries practically. Together AI and VR will enhance the users’ experiences and services.
